The myth of Ariadne’s Thread
is one of the most tragic and fascinating myths of the Greek Mythology. Ariadne, daughter of Pasiphae and the Cretan king Minos. She fell in love with the Athenian hero Theseus and, helped him to kill the Minotaur, a beast half bull and half man that Minos kept in the Labyrinth. She gave Theseus a sword and a ball of red thread, so that he could find his way out of the Minotaur’s labyrinth.
Theseus found the Minotaur killed it with his sword, and followed the thread back to the entrance.
